How To Start A Blog Today
Are you ready to be self-hosted? Are you struggling with choosing which host to use? Do you not like the host you have and are looking to switch? When I started this website I researched so many different hosts. I actually started with Bluehost at first, because I liked what I read and the price seemed good.
But then I switched to Siteground.
Self-Host Your WordPress Blog
I kept hearing about Siteground from actual bloggers, so I decided to spend a little more time researching. Once I was on their site, I learned that Siteground could meet my needs and for less money (for a 12 month sign-up) than Bluehost. The cost of hosting with them, plus all the amazing things I was reading about their customer service from everyone had me intrigued.
Bluehost was fine as a host. I didn’t have any real issues with them. But they were just “fine” and I wanted “great”. Honestly, I didn’t even understand why it mattered which host I used. I figured the less money I put into the blog, the better it was for my pocket.
I was new to the self-hosted world of blogging and I didn’t want to spend too much money up-front. Sound familiar? What I also didn’t know was that the host matters and that maybe some of what I was reading online about all the different host options was maybe not entirely true.
One of the things I learned, once I started researching Bluehost v Siteground, is about Bluehost’s amazing affiliate program. Another blogger tipped me off that some of the “reviews” I read about Bluehost were actually just affiliates looking to make money. These affiliates didn’t even necessarily use Bluehost. I guess that’s something I could do too, but I’m an honest person. I can’t recommend a product to someone if it’s not something I actually use myself and think is great. Remember, I didn’t think Bluehost was great.
However, I really do think Siteground is pretty great and I really do use them.
How to Switch and Transfer Your Blog
Finally, I decided to make the switch. I couldn’t be happier. I’ve run into plenty of questions since making the switch and every time I have a question the Siteground chat is my go-to. An associate always helps me through step-by-step and with kind words. Though I wouldn’t blame them if they’re thinking I’m a complete computer dunce.
Siteground also made it so easy to switch. I utilized their 24/7 chat and let their customer services associates walk me through step-by-step. Honestly, the only trouble I had with switching was when I went to cancel my Bluehost account. But again Siteground 24/7 chat was there. An associate stayed on chatting with me through the entire ordeal. They even double-checked where my domain name was registered and told me what exactly I needed to tell the Bluehost associate so that only my hosting canceled.
Step-By-Step Tutorial to Start A Blog
Siteground makes it really easy to sign-up.
First, you need to decide which plan is best for you. They’re offering a discount on ALL plans right now too. If you will only have one self-hosted site then the StartUp should work out just fine for you.
The second step is to pick your domain name. If you already purchased a domain name with someone else, then put the domain name you’ll be using. Once you sign up with Siteground, if you already purchased a domain name elsewhere, you’ll need to re-direct your nameservers. Siteground chat helped me with that too. Originally I chatted with Bluehost to help, but they were not very friendly or helpful.
Last, decide what length of time you want to sign-up for and uncheck any boxes for extras you do not want. Then click the Pay Now button!
That is simple enough for the basic computer user, right?

Siteground has been really great for me and I feel confident in recommending them to you. If you’re ready to sign up or make the switch click this link for my special price of $3.95 a month.
Remember if you’re not completely happy — thought honestly I think you will be — they offer a 30-day money back guarantee.
If you have any questions for me, before, during, or after signing up email me at simplywellfamily(@)gmail(.)com and I’ll be happy to help the best I can!
Till next time…
